Job summary

Volunteers of America Southwest seeks an EHS Teacher I to guide safe, play-based learning for ages 0-3. You will plan individual and group activities under the Child Development Coordinator, and involve parents to support their child’s growth and school readiness.

Responsibilities include safety oversight, developmentally appropriate teaching, DRDP assessments, and collaboration with families while complying with state licensing and program policies.

Qualifications

• Two years of classroom experience with children.
• Associate Teacher Permit or above within 6 months of hire.
• AA degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field.
• BA degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field.
• MA degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Develops safety plan for children using indoor/outdoor facilities and completes health checks.
• Inspects facilities for hazards and removes unsafe equipment.
• Supervises activities to ensure child safety.
• Conducts monthly emergency drills.
• Plans and conducts age-appropriate class activities.
• Facilitates daily learning aligned with Creative Curriculum.
• Maintains child observations and DRDP assessments twice yearly.
• Collaborates with parents; conducts staff-parent conferences.
• Attends trainings and follows agency procedures.
