Job summary

Oregon Head Start Association in Redmond, WA is seeking an Early Head Start Center Aide to support toddlers in a classroom of up to eight children. You will help prepare meals, keep the center safe and clean, and assist other staff during breaks, contributing to a warm, nurturing environment.

Ideal candidates promote positive communication, are comfortable with physical tasks, and possess required health and safety certifications.

Qualifications

  • Must promote positive communications within and outside Early Head Start
  • Frequent kneeling, stooping, bending, and sitting on the floor to attend to children’s needs
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Initial health examination and periodic re-examination as recommended by health care provider
  • Food Handler’s Card required
  • Current enrollment in the OR Child Care Division-Criminal History Registry (CBR)
  • Access to reliable transportation
  • Pediatric CPR/First Aid certification within 60 days of hire
  • Certifications must be kept current to remain employed
  • Preferred: infant and toddler experience with Early Head Start or similar program
  • Preferred: bilingual English/Spanish
  • Head Start parent or past parent preferred

NeighborImpact’s Early Head Start program provides comprehensive early childhood education and family support services to families with children from birth to age three, as well as pregnant women. Early Head Start aims to foster school readiness and social competence, ensuring children and families receive the necessary resources and support during the critical early years.

Overview of Key Duties and Responsibilities

The role of an Early Head Start Center Aide is a dynamic position essential for the smooth operation of the center-based facility by integrating all program services in a classroom of up to 8 children.

This position requires a compassionate individual with a keen eye for safety and the ability to foster a nurturing environment for our youngest charges.

Requirements
  • Must be able to promote positive communications within and outside Early Head Start
  • Frequent kneeling, stooping, bending, and sitting on the floor to attend to children’s needs required
  • This position is rated as active and occasionally requires the individual to lift 50 pounds
  • Must have an initial health examination, and a periodic re-examination (as recommended by health care provider) so as to assure that employees do not because of communicable diseases, pose a significant risk to the health or safety of others, that cannot be eliminated or reduced by reasonable accommodation
  • Required prior to date of hire and throughout employment: Food Handler’s Card
  • Current enrollment in the OR Child Care Division-Criminal History Registry (CBR)
  • Access to reliable transportation
  • Within 60 days of hire, Pediatric CPR/First Aid certification is required
  • Above certifications must be kept current to remain employed
