Job summary

Maynard Public Schools seeks a dedicated Early Elementary Literacy Interventionist to support students in grades K–3 with targeted literacy instruction. The ideal candidate understands the Science of Reading and is passionate about helping young readers develop engaged learning habits.

The role involves collaboration with classroom teachers, data-driven progress monitoring, and participation in MTSS meetings. A two-day new-teacher orientation is held prior to the start of the school year.

Qualifications

  • Must be MA DESE Certified - Reading Specialist.
  • Master degree preferred.
  • Citizenship, residency or work visa required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide small group literacy instruction to students in grades K–3 in both classroom (push-in) and intervention (pull-out) settings.
  • Implement evidence-based instructional practices aligned with the Science of Reading.
  • Support the development of phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to support in-class interventions and differentiated instruction.
  • Assist in the administration of universal screeners, diagnostic assessments, and progress monitoring tools.
  • Support the assessment process, including data collection, organization, and interpretation.
  • Analyze student data to monitor progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance, interventions, and outcomes.

Position Overview

  • Must be MA DESE Certified - Reading Specialist Any offer of employment is contingent upon completion of a satisfactory check of criminal records (C.O.R.I), and a suitable fingerprint check or Suitability Determination in accordance with 603 CMR 51.00.
  • At least 1 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.
  • Master degree preferred.
  • Citizenship, residency or work visa required.

Salary is according to the contract salary grid, based on level of education and years of experience.
