This is a professional teaching position with the Southern Ute Indian Montessori Academy (SUIMA). An employee in this position uses the Montessori philosophy to provide Southern Ute Indian Montessori Academy students with a developmentally appropriate learning environment meeting the physical, social/emotional, cognitive, and cultural needs of the child. This position is responsible for communicating effectively with parents/guardians about their child’s progress in each domain area. This position is a grade N9; pay rate is $21.48/hour.

Education And Experience

• Must have an AA/AS in Early Childhood or Elementary Education (or related field) and 1 year of relevant experience OR 30 college credits in Education or related field and 2 years of work experience with infants/toddlers or preschool children and must obtain an AA in Education or related field within 3 years of hire.
• Must be Montessori certified at the level of the teaching assignment or obtain certification within 2 years of hire.
• Must have computer experience and be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Must have and maintain a current Infant/child/adult CPR and First Aid certificate or obtain within 6 months of hire.
• Must pass a thorough background check including Criminal History, fingerprint check, and pre-employment drug test.

Preferred Qualifications

• Montessori certified at level of position
• AA in Early Childhood Education.
• BA degree in Education, preferably in Early Childhood Education.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license for state of residency and insurable under the Tribal vehicle insurance policy.
• TERO preference.
