Job summary

BrightStars in Rhode Island is seeking a part-time Early Childhood Substitute Teacher to support classrooms across our partner centers. This on-the-road role lets you choose shifts and locations that fit your lifestyle, with East Greenwich serving as our main training location.

You will work with children ages infant to 5 years, enjoy flexible scheduling, paid training, and competitive pay plus potential long-term placements or permanent opportunities within our centers.

Qualifications

• 18 years or older.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Pass Comprehensive Background Check with Fingerprints and DCYF/CANTS check.
• Have reliable transportation.
• Fluent in English.
• Comfortable working with the Early Childhood population (infants – 5 years old).

Responsibilities

• Provide substitute teaching in partner ECE centers.
• Follow center routines and curricula.
• Support classrooms in need on a flexible schedule.
• Travel to multiple centers as assigned.

BrightStars helps families in Rhode Island access QUALITY child care, early learning, and school-age programs. We help child care providers learn about best practices in early learning and apply them to the care children receive. • Woonsocket


• Burrillville


• Providence


• East Greenwich – our main center / training location


• North Kingstown


• Middletown


• Cranston

While this is strictly a part-time position (as little as 16hrs./month or up to 30hrs./week), we may also be able to offer long‑term placements in many of our centers, which can lead to a full‑time permanent position should that be your goal.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• 18 years or older


• Has a minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent


• Be able to pass a Comprehensive Background Check with Fingerprints and DCYF/CANTS check


• Have reliable transportation


• Fluent in English


• Comfortable working with the Early Childhood population (infants – 5 years old)

Desired Qualifications

• 1+ to 2 years of experience preferred but not required


• Age Groups Served: Infant, Toddler, Preschool, Kindergarten


• Comfortability with changing diapers


• HS Diploma, some college ideal but not required


• First Aid Training, CPR, Certified Teacher, Early Childhood Education (ECE), Child Development Associate (CDA), Early Child Development Coursework, Elementary Education preferred
