Job summary

Yakama Nation Head Start is seeking a Substitute Teacher Assistant to support early childhood education across all centers. The role collaborates with the classroom teacher to plan, implement, and assess activities that foster holistic child development in a culturally responsive setting.

Responsibilities include assisting with instruction, preparing materials, supporting behavior guidance, and engaging families.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Early Childhood Development theories/practices.
• Knowledge of Washington State Early Learning Guidelines.
• Knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards.
• Knowledge of Yakama Nation policies.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Assist with instruction and supervision of young children.
• Support classroom teacher and learning activities.
• Prepare materials and centers for lessons.
• Support culture-specific units and activities.
• Track child progress and assist with individualized plans.
• Engage families and participate in parent activities.
• Contribute to a safe, clean, and welcoming classroom environment.
