Job summary

Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) is seeking a Part-time Child Care Specialist for the West Allis campus. The role supports infants to preschoolers with developmentally appropriate activities, working up to 19 hours weekly during the academic year.

You will assist with daily care routines, guide practicum students, and collaborate with teachers to maintain a safe, nurturing environment. CPR/First Aid and related trainings are required within six months of hire.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education or 60 college credits in related field with a minimum of 6 credits in Early childhood education; and one to three years of progressive experience within a childcare setting.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• CPR/AED/First Aid Certification within six months of hire, Abusive Head Trauma/Shaken Baby Prevention Certificate and Mandated Reporter Training Certificate must be completed prior to hire or at orientation.
• Registry Level 12 preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitors child care room activities and provides age-appropriate assistance to children; prepares age-appropriate activities for early development.
• Guides and engages children in one-on-one and group activities; supports daily care routines.
• Maintains records and tracks children's development using portfolios; assists with outreach during events.
• Collaborates with staff to maintain a safe, stimulating, and developmentally appropriate environment.
• Works with practicum students during field placements and with instructors to support program objectives.
