The role involves assisting teachers with lesson plans, materials, and activities; engaging families; and ensuring a nurturing, inclusive environment that respects diverse backgrounds and learning styles.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 60 college credits, or a qualifying score on the ParaPro Assessment.

Responsibilities

• Assists the teacher in establishing and maintaining a safe, nurturing and developmentally appropriate classroom environment.
• Consults with teacher on plans and curriculum activities.
• Assists the teacher in preparing and maintaining classroom materials and supplies.
• Participates in all planned school activities and staff meetings and pursues personal growth.
• Observes strengths/needs of each child and helps set individual goals.
• Works with teacher to ensure cultural, language, and learning style considerations are supported.
• Assists in planning, implementing and documenting curriculum across developmental areas.
• Supports experiences that enhance each child's self-concept.
• Attends all parent meetings and collaborates with staff to involve parents.
• Provides for students' physical needs, including diapering.
