Job summary

School of Rock Sunnyvale is seeking an energetic Early Childhood Music Instructor to lead our Little Wings (ages 4–5) and Rookies (ages 6–7) programs. This part-time role involves delivering engaging, play-based music classes and building confidence in young learners.

Ideal candidates have experience with young children in group settings, strong vocal control, and basic instrument skills. The position offers flexible afternoon/evening hours and weekend shifts.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young children in a group setting (music education, preschool/elementary teaching, camp leadership).
• Strong vocal pitch control and basic proficiency in at least one instrument (piano, guitar, ukulele, or percussion).
• Background check must be cleared when offered employment.

Responsibilities

• Lead engaging, high-energy group music classes following School of Rock curriculum.
• Introduce fundamental musical concepts using games, storytelling, and movement.
• Guide students in exploring basic instruments (drums, keyboard, guitar, bass, and vocals).
• Maintain a safe, welcoming classroom environment.
• Communicate progress and enthusiasm with parents.

As we prepare for our grand opening, we are seeking energetic, passionate educators to lead our foundational early childhood music programs: Little Wings (ages 4–5) and Rookies (ages 6–7).

Position Overview

Our Little Wings and Rookies programs introduce young children to basic musical concepts—such as rhythm, pitch, dynamics, and instrument exploration—through play, structured games, and movement. We are looking for an inspiring instructor who excels at keeping young kids engaged, having fun, and building confidence in a group setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead engaging, high-energy group music classes following the School of Rock curriculum.
• Introduce fundamental musical concepts (rhythm, ear training, basic chords, and dynamic control) using games, storytelling, and movement.
• Guide students in exploring basic instruments (drums, keyboard, guitar, bass, and vocals).
• Maintain a safe, welcoming, and inclusive classroom environment.
• Communicate positively with parents regarding their child’s progress and enthusiasm.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young children (ages 4–7) in a group setting (e.g., music education, preschool/elementary teaching, theater, or camp leadership).
• Strong vocal pitch control and basic proficiency in at least one instrument (piano, guitar, ukulele, or percussion).
• Upbeat, high-energy, and patient personality with strong classroom management skills.
• Passion for music and early childhood development.
• Ability to pass a background check upon offer of employment.
