Early Childhood Substitute Teacher

What You’ll Actually Do Here:

Step into classrooms when regular teachers are absent and provide the consistency, care, and encouragement children need. Follow established classroom routines, support joyful hands-on learning activities, and help children feel comfortable and secure throughout their day.

You’ll assist with meals, rest time, outdoor play, classroom transitions, and age-appropriate learning experiences. You’ll keep children safe and engaged, communicate professionally with families and staff, and become the reliable team member our schools know they can count on.

What We’re Looking For:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience working with young children preferred
• NC Early Childhood Credential preferred but not required to apply
• Ability to meet all required childcare background-check and employment qualifications
• Flexibility to work in different classrooms, with different age groups, and at one or more Sunshine Schools locations
• A genuine love for children and early childhood education
• Warmth, patience, reliability, and the ability to stay calm when the regular routine changes—or someone spills paint on your shoes
