Southwest Oklahoma Community Action Group, Inc. is offering a Birth to Five Student Intern position in Altus, OK. The internship is non-exempt, part-time with a pay rate of $12.00 per hour and a maximum of 15 hours per week, Monday through Friday.

The role supports the teacher in daily lesson plans and classroom activities, providing individualized time for children during the school day. Safety, licensing compliance, and data entry are part of the responsibilities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Must be at least 16 years old, completed 10th grade and currently enrolled in High School or GED classes.
• Must be on the OK Registry within 6 months.
• Reliable transportation to and from the work site required.
• Annual Tuberculin screen is required or as directed by a medical professional.
• Initial physical is required and obtained after hire by the program.
• Negative pre-employment drug screen prior to employment with a current photo identification.
• Criminal background checks including fingerprinting are required and performed according to Oklahoma statutes and any program regulations.

Responsibilities

• Assists the Teacher in the implementation of daily lesson plans and other center activities.
• Eats meals with the children to aid in the development of social skills.
• Counts children when transitioning from one place to another.
• Sweeps and mops the classrooms, cleans the children' bathroom, sanitizes children' bedding and toys as required by Head Start and DHS Licensing guidelines.
• Assists with paperwork and/or computer data entry as assigned.
• Other related duties as assigned.
