Job summary

School of Rock in Charlotte, NC is seeking an enthusiastic Early Childhood Development Music Instructor for part-time hours. You will teach ages 4-7 across core areas and create engaging lesson plans while maintaining strong parent communication.

The role emphasizes flexibility, a positive demeanor, and the ability to recruit and enroll students. Weekend availability may be required.

Qualifications

• 4+ years’ experience teaching and/or performing music professionally.
• Passion for and/or experience working with children under seven.
• Classroom/early childhood education experience preferred.
• Knowledge of music theory and curriculum design; rhythm, notation, pop/rock.
• Excellent ability to deal with a wide range of customers, including children and parents.
• Enthusiastic, flexible, patient, and positive demeanor.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Strong customer relations on phone and in person.
• Proficient on at least one instrument: guitar, keyboard/piano, drums, voice.
• Good judgment.

Responsibilities

• Maximize the quality of music instruction including private lessons and shows.
• Ensure students learn fundamentals of music, not just songs.
• Create and document thoughtful lesson plans.
• Communicate regularly with parents on progress after lessons.
• Interact with parents and students regularly by being visible and accessible in the school.
• Pitch in during canceled lessons and assist in overall program execution.
• Assist in rehearsals and basic maintenance in school.
• Assist in recruiting and enrolling students.

School of Rock is looking for an enthusiastic Instructor for our Little Wing (ages 4-5) and Rookies (ages 6-7) classes. Little Wing and Rookies Instructors will help create a warm, supportive and inspiring environment for young musicians aged 4-7, and encourage young children to reach their developmental milestones through fun musical activities and playing rock and roll musical instruments.

We teach five core areas at School of Rock - keys, vocals, guitar, bass and drums. Many of our instructors have broader musical talent as well which we do our best to engage.

Music Instruction

Skill Requirements

• Excellent ability to deal well with a wide range of customers, including but not limited to, children and parents

• Strong organizational skills
• Very strong customer relations skills on the phone and in person
• Resourceful and good problem-solver
• Works well under pressure
• Ideal candidate is proficient on at least one: guitar, keyboard/piano, drums, voice.
• Good judgment a must

Part time, some weekend day availability required.
