Job summary

The Goddard School of Macomb (Wellington Center) in Macomb, MI is seeking an Assistant Teacher to support the Lead Teacher, implement age-appropriate lessons, and create a safe, engaging classroom.

You will help children develop socially, emotionally, and cognitively, assist with daily care routines, and communicate with families about progress. The role offers a collaborative, nurturing environment with opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; Associate or Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education preferred.
• Demonstrates empathy and compassion for young children.
• Able to work productively without supervision.
• Basic understanding of child development.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs. for child handling.
• Pass state background checks and meet minimum requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist Lead Teacher in implementing age-appropriate lesson plans.
• Support children’s social, emotional, cognitive and physical development through engagement.
• Prepare classroom materials and ensure a safe, clean and inviting learning environment.
• Supervise and provide individualized support to children and foster belonging.
• Communicate with families about child’s progress and daily activities.
• Adhere to health and safety guidelines and licensing regulations.
• Support daily care routines to promote a nurturing learning environment.
