Job summary

Elk Creek Elementary School in Newcastle, CO is seeking an Early Childhood Assistant Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year to support the preschool program and assist with daily routines. Located in the gateway area to the Western Colorado Rocky Mountains, Elk Creek Elementary values student development and family partnerships.

Under the supervision of the Lead Early Childhood Teacher and Site Director, you will work with students individually or in small groups, provide some clerical support,

Qualifications

• Supports preschool classroom and developmentally appropriate activities.
• Works with Lead Early Childhood Teacher and Site Director.
• Provides clerical/documentation support to teachers.
• Assists with toileting, feeding, diapering and life skills instructions.
• Promotes positive community relations among staff and families.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preschool classroom and implement lesson plans.
• Support developmentally appropriate learning environment.
• Collaborate with lead teacher and site director in small groups.
• Provide daily living skills support and behavior management as needed.

Position Summary: Responsible for providing classroom assistance in the preschool program through implementing plans, organizing, and supporting the developmentally appropriate preschool environment that guides and encourages children’s development and learning. This position supports all aspects of instruction in the classroom and working with students alone or in small groups in collaboration with the Lead Early Childhood Teacher and Site Director. Provides some clerical (documentation) support to teachers. Provide assistance with a variety of daily functions such as toileting, feeding, diapering, and life skills instruction and/or behavior management. Works effectively with a team and develops and promotes good community relations among various community and school clientele.
