Job summary

The YMCA Mt Hope Childcare Center is hiring a Teaching Assistant to support a high-quality early learning classroom serving infants, toddlers, or preschool-aged children.

You will assist the Lead Teacher with developmentally appropriate curriculum, observe and assess children, maintain a safe and engaging environment, and communicate with families through daily updates. Schedule varies M-F, between 8:15am and 5:30pm, in Providence, RI.

Qualifications

• Must be 18+ years old.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Interest in early childhood education or childcare.
• Ability to work as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist with implementation of developmentally appropriate curriculum.
• Help conduct child observations and assessments.
• Maintain classroom environment aligned with licensing and quality standards.
• Follow licensing regulations and BrightStars standards.
• Conduct daily health checks and maintain documentation.
• Track attendance and meal counts.
• Support daily routines and transitions.
• Communicate with families through daily or weekly updates.
• Ensure proper sign-in/sign-out procedures.
• Follow all health, safety, and emergency procedures.
• Build positive relationships with children, families, and staff.
• Attend required trainings and staff meetings.
