Job summary

Willis Towers Watson seeks an actuarial intern in our Life division in Chicago. The role will work with credentialed actuaries on product development, financial modeling, and risk management for insurance clients.

On-site with housing stipend and partial remote work, you will gain exposure across projects and clients while pursuing actuarial credentials. You will assist with pricing, valuation, and development of insurance products, build financial projections, and participate in learning

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, finance or any other major with significant quantitative coursework and GPA 3.0+
• Successful completion of one or more actuarial exams highly preferred
• Able to work legally in the United States indefinitely and without visa sponsorship
• Housing stipend and primarily on-site with some remote days

As an actuarial intern in our Life division, you will work as part of a team on a wide variety of complex projects spanning product development, financial and risk management, financial modeling and software implementation, and mergers and acquisitions for insurance companies. Our clients demand leading edge products and expertise; as an intern with our firm you can expect to gain tremendous exposure to many different aspects of insurance operations and learn practical skills working directly with credentialed actuaries.

You will work side-by-side with some of the industry's top consultants while you develop cutting edge technical knowledge and skills and gain experience working with a variety of clients across industries. As part of your role, you will:

• Assist with the pricing, valuation and development of insurance products
• Work to develop financial projections of clients' insurance business
• Follow the firm's Excellence guidelines
• Seek and participate in key learning and development opportunities/maintain steady progress towards actuarial credentials
• Build strong relationships internally and with client representatives
• Document, review and present your own work
• Assist in creating detailed project plans
• Monitor project progress against deadlines and budget

Qualifications

About you:

• Able to work legally in the United States indefinitely and without Visa sponsorship
• Pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, finance or any other major with significant quantitative course work with a minimum overall GPA of 3.0
• Successful completion of one or more actuarial exams highly preferred
• Work or extracurricular experience that demonstrates strong technical and/or client service skills and leadership
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
• Accepting applications from candidates that graduate with a Bachelor's or Master's degree between December 2027 through June 2029
• This position is primarily on-site, with the flexibility to work remotely two days per week. On-site presence is required three days each week. A housing stipend will be included in the offer.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary range and benefits information for this position are being included in accordance with requirements of various state/local pay transparency legislation. Please note that base salaries may vary for different individuals in the same role based on several factors, including but not limited to location of the role, individual competencies, education/professional certifications, qualifications/experience, performance in the role and potential for revenue generation (Producer roles only).

Compensation

The hourly rate being offered for this role is $36.00 - $41.00/hr. USD, depending on exam progress.
