Job summary

Geosyntec Consultants is seeking an Early-Career Water Resources Engineer in North Carolina with a focus on hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, watershed management, and ecological restoration. The role supports multi-disciplinary teams across Wilmington, Charlotte, Raleigh, and Greenville, with hybrid office work.

You will contribute to design and analysis of surface water, green infrastructure, and permitting efforts while developing technical and business skills for a consulting career.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in civil, environmental, or agricultural/biosystems engineering or related science (required)
  • Advanced degree in engineering or science (preferred)
  • Internship experience in environmental consulting (preferred)
  • Experience with modeling/design tools such as ArcGIS, HEC-RAS, HydroCAD, HY-8, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and TR-55 (preferred)
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing (required)
  • Some field work and overnight travel (required)
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel (required)

  • Surface water quality/hydrodynamic modeling and environmental data analysis

  • Clean Water Act/NPDES compliance
  • Civil/infrastructure design and site layout
  • Site visits/field investigations; and
  • Preparation of technical reports, calculations, drawings, specifications, etc.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) analysis and modeling;
  • Watershed, stormwater management, and stream restoration design and analysis;
  • Surface water quality/hydrodynamic modeling and environmental data analysis;
  • Green infrastructure/low impact development best management practice design;
  • Floodplain modeling and permitting;
  • Erosion and sediment control design;
  • Clean Water Act/National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) compliance;
  • Civil/infrastructure design and site layout;
  • Site visits/field investigations; and
  • Preparation of technical reports, calculations, drawings, specifications, etc.
  • Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed.
Education and Licensure
  • Bachelors degree in civil, environmental, or agricultural/biosystems engineering or related science. (required)
  • Advanced degree in engineering or science. (preferred)
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
  • Prior internship experience in environmental consulting. (preferred)
  • Experience with modeling/design tools such as ArcGIS, HEC-RAS, HydroCAD, HY-8, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and TR-55. (preferred)
