Job summary

Axiom Consultants, a Ruekert & Mielke company, seeks an early-career Structural Engineer to join our Building Services division in our Iowa City or Madison office. You will manage structural design projects, mentor juniors, and build strong client relationships while collaborating with architects, contractors, and internal teams.

You will work under the Structural Team Leader, ensuring designs meet codes and standards, with opportunities for professional growth and ownership-driven culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering or related field; Master’s degree is a plus.
• PE licensure in Iowa, Wisconsin, or both.
• Strong background in structural engineering design and project management.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee structural design projects from initial concept to completion.
• Manage project schedules, budgets, and client communication.
• Coordinate with architects, contractors, and engineering teams (Civil and MEPT).
• Assist with geotechnical coordination and foundation design.
• Design structural elements using steel, concrete, masonry, and wood materials.
• Prepare design documents and review shop drawings.
• Conduct construction site visits and respond to RFIs/ITCs.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable codes and standards.
