Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Part-time Early Career Structural Engineer in Boston, MA to join our growing Structural Engineering Team. You will develop and maintain carbon tracking dashboards, collect and structure project data, and analyze embodied carbon across materials and regions to support sustainability goals.

You will gain advanced training in structural design and digital design tools, collaborate with colleagues worldwide, and contribute to projects nationwide while upholding safety and code

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or closely related discipline.
• 0 to 1 years of relevant post education experience.
• Excellent research skills with analytical mindset.
• Familiarity with process and concepts for design/build.
• Familiarity with relevant structural and civil construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
• Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
• Proficient self‑leadership with attention to detail, multi‑tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
• Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
• Experience with Building Information Modeling software, such as Autodesk Revit
• Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain an interactive SMQ and carbon tracking dashboard to monitor embodied carbon metrics across structural engineering projects.
• Collect, clean, and structure project-level data from multiple internal sources to support SMQ tracking and reporting workflows.
• Analyze SMQs and embodied carbon data across materials, structural systems, project types, and geographic regions to identify trends and opportunities.
• Generate reports and data visualizations summarizing findings for internal stakeholders and leadership.
• Apply analytical and statistical frameworks to benchmark carbon performance across projects.
• Perform structural design of new buildings and restoration of existing buildings across the United States.
• Analyze and design superstructures and foundations in timber, concrete, steel, and masonry.
• Utilize latest technology and digital tools for design.
• Complete training on assigned tasks.
• Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company funds, resources and conduct.
• Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Your Impact

• Develop and maintain an interactive structural material quantity (SMQ) and carbon tracking dashboard to monitor embodied carbon metrics across structural engineering projects, using business intelligence tools aligned with WSP's sustainability reporting objectives.
• Collect, clean, and structure project-level data from multiple internal sources to support SMQ tracking, carbon analysis and reporting workflows, applying data management principles consistent with graduate-level business analytics training.
• Analyze SMQs and embodied carbon data across materials, structural systems, project types, and geographic regions to identify trends, inefficiencies, and optimization opportunities.
• Generate reports and data visualizations summarizing findings from carbon tracking and sustainability initiatives for internal stakeholders, project managers, and engineering leadership.
• Apply analytical and statistical frameworks to benchmark carbon performance across projects and support data-driven decision making within the structural engineering practice.
• Perform structural design of new buildings and restoration of existing buildings throughout the United States
• Analyze and design superstructures and foundations in timber, concrete, steel, and masonry.

Required Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

• Recent or upcoming May 2026 graduates in an accredited Civil/Architectural/Structural Engineering, or related, Undergraduate or Graduate program.
• Masters Degree in Structural Engineering is preferred
• The successful candidate will have 0-3 years of internship experience in Civil/Architectural/Structural Engineering.
• Experience using Revit, AutoCAD and/or MicroStation software.

Compensation

Expected Salary (all locations): $72,700-$95,000

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
