Job summary

Eaton Corporation invites applicants to join the two-year Engineering & Technology Development Program, Embedded Systems track. You will rotate through two 12‑month assignments, designing intelligent power management solutions and building leadership and technical depth.

You’ll gain exposure to IoT applications, firmware/software for microcontrollers, and embedded hardware development, while working with senior leaders and mentors to shape your career trajectory.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical/electronics engineering, computer engineering, software engineering, or computer science with graduation before Aug 2027.
• Minimum internship/co-op experience or 3 months work experience by application.
• Minimum GPA 2.8 overall.
• Geographic flexibility to relocate within the United States.
• No immigration sponsorship or CPT/OPT/STEM OPT support.

Eaton provides a competitive total rewards package commensurate with applicable skills, knowledge, and experience and consistent with internal and external market practices. The annual salary for this role is $90,000 (bachelor’s degree) with a one-time $10,000 signing bonus or $104,000 (master’s degree) with a one-time $15,000 signing bonus.

Position Overview:

This two-year rotational program consists of two unique 12—month assignments. This development program will provide you with the opportunity to design the world’s next intelligent power management solutions and bring them to life. Throughout the program, you will build your leadership aptitude and technical depth in critical and strategic focus areas.

The Early Career Leadership Development Program: Engineering and Technology - Embedded Systems track will provide exposure to a combination of hardware and software product development support opportunities. Rotations will either be supporting a specific business unit/product line or working with broader technologies across the enterprise. Our strategic teams in this area are working on cutting edge technologies including:

• IoT product application and development
• Firmware and software development for micro-controllers
• Development of embedded hardware for power distribution products
• And more!

After completion of the program, your technical expertise combined with your newly acquired business acumen will get you ready to take on larger challenges within the Engineering & Technology function including technical or people leader opportunities.

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical or electronics engineering, computer engineering, software engineering, or computer science from an accredited institution, with a graduation date before August 2027
• Minimum of one internship/co-op experience or an equivalent of 3 months work experience completed at the time of this application
• Minimum overall cumulative GPA of 2.8
• Must be geographically flexible to relocate within the United States

Preferred Qualifications:

• Overall cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher
• Demonstrated leadership experience within campus and/or community
• Two or more relevant internships or co-op experiences
• Experience in embedded systems and exposure to software languages including C, C++, Java, and/or Python
• Demonstrated exposure to machine learning or AI concepts through coursework, internships, research, or personal projects including experience using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot), experience in prompt engineering, and working with generative AI models and simulation tools

Position Criteria:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to effectively explain technical concepts
• This role may include travel (up to 25%) within a local region as determined by the Engineering & Technology Assignment Manager
• Demonstrate geographic flexibility to relocate within the United States throughout the duration and completion of the Development Program to an Eaton facility including (but not limited to): Raleigh, NC; Pittsburgh, PA; or Milwaukee, WI
