Job summary

WSP USA is seeking an Early Career Geologist for our Savannah, GA office to support site investigation and remediation projects across clients in industrial, commercial, government, and infrastructure sectors.

The role emphasizes hands-on field work, environmental sampling, data reporting, and collaboration with project teams to assess conditions and develop remediation solutions. Travel and safety compliance are integral parts of the position.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assist with Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, site reconnaissance, and environmental due diligence activities.
• Conduct field investigations, including soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, soil vapor, and air sampling.
• Support installation, development, and sampling of monitoring wells and other environmental investigation points.
• Document field activities through detailed field notes, photographs, sample logs, chain-of-custody records, and daily reports.
• Coordinate with subcontractors, laboratories, drillers, and internal project teams to support safe and efficient field execution.
• Assist with data review, interpretation of analytical results, preparation of tables and figures, and development of technical reports.
• Support remediation activities, including excavation oversight, groundwater monitoring, remedial system operation and maintenance, and confirmation sampling.
• Follow company and client health and safety requirements, including preparation for field work and participation in job safety briefings.
• Maintain equipment, manage supplies, and support project logistics for field assignments.
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality environmental consulting services.
• Undertake project-based travel and site work, both within the United States and internationally.
• Complete training on assigned tasks.
• Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
• Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Full-Time Early Career Geologist for our Savannah, GA office to support site investigation and remediation projects for industrial, commercial, government, and infrastructure clients. This role is ideal for a motivated, detail-oriented professional who is interested in hands-on field work, environmental data collection, regulatory compliance, and technical reporting. The successful candidate will work closely with project managers, engineers, geologists, and senior environmental professionals to evaluate site conditions, assess environmental impacts, and support practical remediation solutions.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, or closely related discipline.
• The ability to obtain professional licensure (GIT and/or PG).
• 0 to 1 years of relevant experience in environmental consulting, field investigation, remediation, or a related technical field.
• Strong interest in site investigation, environmental sampling, remediation, and regulatory compliance.
• Ability to perform field work in varying weather conditions and site environments.
• Ability to operate, troubleshoot, and maintain field testing and monitoring equipment.
• Ability to lift and transport a minimum of 50 pounds on a regular basis during the course of field work.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to safely operate a motor vehicle on behalf of the company to travel locally or regionally for field assignments.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail in documentation and reporting.
• Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation and communication software, technology, and tools.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team while managing multiple priorities.
• Commitment to safe work practices and a proactive safety mindset.
• Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
• Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
• Willingness to travel for field work as dictated by project demands, which could be as much as 75% of the time and to periodically adjust personal schedules to meet project needs.
• The selected candidate must have the ability to work in the United States immediately.
• Must be able to pass a HAZWOPER physical and be medically able to wear a tight-fitting respirator / Fit for Duty Exam / Medical Exam.
• This role is subject to a client-mandated drug/alcohol testing policy. As such, employee may be subject to random drug/alcohol tests. A copy of this policy will be provided during employee onboarding and is available upon applicant request.

Preferred Qualifications

• A Master’s degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, or closely related discipline.
• 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR 1910.120)
• Experience performing soil and rock logging.
• Experience performing soil, sediment, soil gas, and/or groundwater sampling.
• Familiarity with various drilling techniques and experience with installation of groundwater monitoring and/or remediation wells.
• Experience with software such as AutoCAD, ArcGIS, EQuIS, OpenGround, Rockworks, EVS, and/or Leapfrog a plus.
• Experience with groundwater and plume modeling software, such as Surfer, MODFLOW, MODPATH, and/or MT3DMS, and associated interface/processing packages, such as Groundwater Vistas.
• A member of and/or actively participate in local professional practice organizations.
