Job summary

WSP USA is hiring for a POWER Testing and Energization (PTE) Early Career Field Services Technician in Washington. This entry-level role supports construction, maintenance, environmental sampling, and field operations across electrical testing and commissioning in substations and power systems.

Under supervision, you will develop proficiency in equipment handling, safety, data collection, and documentation, while assisting experienced technicians to deliver field services and support client

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Some experience in electrical testing or related job capacity.
  • Interest in field service work with medium/high voltage equipment.
  • Completion of electrical circuits analysis series or AC power system theory courses.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Willingness to participate in safety and operational training sessions.
  • Demonstrated willingness to learn, good communication skills, and problem solving abilities.
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds individually, up to 100 pounds with assistance.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Willingness to travel up to 80%.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team to meet objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Observe and assist with basic inspection and testing activities.
  • Observe and assist with troubleshooting activities.
  • Work may be performed in low, medium, or high voltage systems.
  • Assist with routine field tasks using testing instruments and supporting testing.
  • Observe site safety practices including proper PPE use.
  • Report unsafe conditions or malfunctioning equipment to supervisors.
  • Maintain consistent attendance and communication regarding assignments.
  • Work cooperatively with crew members and maintain professional behavior.
  • Develop basic understanding of fieldwork safety and responsibilities.
