Job summary

Avangrid is seeking a Distribution Planning professional to perform distribution studies across voltage levels, including voltage, thermal, and short-circuit analysis. You will support Grid Automation initiatives and Non-Wires Alternatives (Battery Storage) development, while coordinating with internal teams and industry peers.

Qualifications

• BSEE required with power system concentration preferred.
• 0-2 years of experience in industry related to distribution planning.
• Knowledge of regulatory standards (NERC, NPCC, ISO, PUC) is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Perform distribution studies including voltage, thermal, N-1, and power factor assessments; short circuit and flicker analysis.
• Collaborate with internal teams on Battery Storage and Grid Automation projects.
• Analyze DER interconnections and new customer load interconnections at various voltage levels.
• Apply distribution criteria and identify deficiencies; recommend distribution automation devices.
• Develop understanding and use of GIS mapping, power flow, and protection analysis tools.
