WSP is initiating a search for an Early Career Commissioning Agent to join our Boston, MA office. Be involved in projects with our Property and Buildings Team and help meet client objectives.

You will assist with collecting data, support commissioning of building systems, and generate documentation. This entry-level role offers growth in building energy, safety, and reliability standards, with training and hands-on experience on real projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or closely related discipline.
• 0 to 1 years of relevant post education experience.
• Excellent research skills with analytical mindset.
• Familiarity with process and concepts for smart building design and technology.
• Familiarity with relevant installation and/or construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
• Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a technical and non-technical audience.
• Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
• Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
• Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
• Capable of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
• Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
• Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Responsibilities

• Under general supervision, assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from the physical work site during construction phases, surveys, blueprints, schematics, data, technical drawings, flow diagrams, reports, and other matrices for project energy auditing actions, validation, and commissioning.
• Assist with performing basic professional building commissioning work relating to researching and inspecting proposed site conditions, equipment, resources, layout, usage, and systems for conformance with rules, standards, codes, and permits.
• Performs routine building or system commissioning functions and provides entry-level technical assistance on design requirements, load calculations, and operating strategies to ensure proper installation and functioning.
• Assist with verifying project characteristics and providing basic technical assistance on design, installation, and integration issues for commissioning and retro commissioning of building systems including HVAC, steam, compressed air, chilled water, plumbing, lighting and automation.
• Generate complete, accurate documentation and specifications using electronic systems, drawings, diagrams, illustrations, spreadsheets, and reports.
• Comply with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures including data collection, studies and surveys, and construction.
• Complete training on assigned tasks.
• Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds and resources and adhere to WSP codes.
• Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Takes part in providing local technical assistance for activities to validate construction, integrity, operability, and the commissioning of building systems and facilities projects in the public and private sector. Tasks may include basic assistance with the planning, directing, coordinating, testing, and commissioning and retro commissioning of building systems including electrical, HVAC, steam, compressed air, chilled water, plumbing, lighting and automation. Generates accurate and concise documentation regarding assigned aspects of the project. Ensures that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for performance, reliability, safety, and security for building inhabitants.

Your Impact

Compensation:

Expected Salary (all locations): $72,700 - $90,900

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
