JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary

Earls for Justice is seeking a full-time Community Engagement Director on contract for the 2026 election cycle to lead a creative and comprehensive community engagement strategy for a statewide incumbent Supreme Court campaign.

This contract will start ASAP and is ideally based in the Raleigh-Durham metro area of North Carolina. Exceptions on precise location may be made for the right candidate, though extensive statewide travel will be required at times.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the liaison between the campaign and key constituency groups across the state to mobilize members, promote events, and build support for Justice Earls’ reelection campaign
  • Develop a community engagement and outreach plan that focuses on building statewide support for Justice Earls within targeted communities and groups
  • Work extensively with faith-based organizations, nonprofits, churches, communities of color, interest organizations, Democratic party organizations, and other constituency groups to leverage their local expertise; seek their counsel and support for the campaign’s efforts
  • Speak at events and forums as a surrogate for the campaign; educate and engage community members, activists, and stakeholders to serve as surrogates for the campaign
  • Accompany Justice Earls to community engagement events across the state as needed and other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Ideally some experience with grassroots organizing, coalition building, community engagement, or organizing for a campaign, political organization, government entity, or nonprofit
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • Exceptional program and project management skills; Ability to juggle multiple events and programs simultaneously with success
  • Must have proficient computer skills
  • Willingness to work non-traditional hours, including weekends and evenings, and travel statewide as needed
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, car, cell phone and laptop
