Job summary

Amsted Rail Company Inc. in Groveport, OH seeks an Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) Operator to melt and refine metal for railroad wheels. You will operate and maintain the EAF, monitor temperatures and power levels, and ensure safe, efficient furnace operations.

This role requires at least 2 years of furnace experience, ability to read and interpret technical production specs, strong problem-solving and teamwork, and adherence to safety and environmental regulations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience operating electric arc furnaces or similar equipment in a manufacturing setting.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents and production specifications.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Forklift certification preferred.
• Associate degree in a related field is preferred.
• Experience in foundry or metal manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations related to furnace operations.

Responsibilities

• Operate the electric arc furnace to melt and refine metal according to production specifications.
• Monitor furnace temperature, power levels, and other parameters to ensure optimal performance.
• Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on furnace equipment.
• Follow safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe work environment.
• Record and report production data and furnace performance metrics.
• Collaborate with team members to meet production targets and deadlines.
• Assist in the training of new operators and provide guidance as needed.
