The Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) team is seeking an experienced electrical engineer to join our team in Tucson, AZ.

The E3 Engineer is responsible for electromagnetic interference/electromagnetic compatibility (EMI/EMC). As an E3 Engineering Program Lead for Raytheon, the engineer will lead all E3 and EMI engineering efforts for particular Programs. The candidate should possess experience in this field and have a working knowledge of both military and commercial EMI standards, including but not limited to MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-464, EN5550X, EN61000-XX and FCC Part 15.

Specific areas of expertise will include experience in the design and verification analysis of EMI/EMC, Electrostatic Discharge (ESD), Hazards of Electromagnetic Radiation, Lightning, EMP and High Altitude EMP, Shielding effectiveness and ESD. Also desirable is familiarity with TEMPEST filter designs and isolation techniques.

This position is an onsite role, located in Tucson, AZ.

What You Will Do

  • Provide technical oversight for assigned Programs. E3 Engineers are challenged with making sure the product and process meet appropriate E3 standards.

  • Set Program E3 Requirements. E3 Engineers develop E3 Program schedules, provide scoping estimates, and manage all E3 Engineering Program deliverables.

  • Provide clear communication and guidance to Program Leadership related to E3 risk conditions and constraints.

  • E3 Engineers are present, visible, and accountable related to all Program E3 technical conversations and decisions.

  • Provide cross-discipline collaboration. E3 engineers interact with Mechanical, RF, and Systems Engineering as well as Electrical Engineering

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) or a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field.

  • Education or experience with any combination of the following:

  • EMI/EMC analysis and design experience and / or testing experience

  • Experience with MatLab, ANSYS / HFSS or CST

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Master’s degree in chosen Engineering/Technical field.

  • Currently holds a DoD issued security clearance of Secret or higher.

  • Strong expertise in the field of EMI design methodologies for military applications.

  • Experience with Earned Value Management System (EVMS) and working TINA compliant proposal activities.

  • Experience and understanding of TEMPEST hardening concepts and Red/ Black separation.

  • Ability to provide detailed documentation related to EMI test plans and EMI procedures and as well as the ability to write formal test reports with minimal revision and review.

  • Knowledge of automated EMI test techniques and programming, specifically using TILE.

  • Strong engineering troubleshooting / failure investigation skills.

  • Strong customer focus with good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Knowledge of MIL-STD-461 and Mil-STD-464 test methodologies.

The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
