Job description

Work will consist of installation, alterations, additions and/or repairs of electrical systems, conductors and associated materials and equipment within the electrical construction industry.

JOB DUTIES AND SKILLS:
  • Description: E-1 Apprentice Electrician - Multiple Positions (Forney, TX): Assist electricians by performing tasks under the direct supervision of an electrician actually installing the work and handling the bulk of This employee should keep all materials, tools, and equipment in an orderly fashion and the work area clean at all times. Positively identify colors of wires. Comprehends reading and drawing prints and schematics of Bend conduit by hand with hand benders. Must use all power tools, saws, threaders, wire tuggers, hydraulic benders, and knockout punches. Capable of digging trenches, either by use of hand tools or power equipment. Practices and comprehends safe work procedures as outlined in Company Safety Policy Handbook, Haz Com Policy, and Lockout/Tagout Policy. Operates two (2) handed tools/equipment, cable cutters, hammer drills, compression tools, jack hammers. Operate company trucks with manual and automatic transmission. Read and interprets maps, instructional manuals, specifications, work site directions, blue prints and written Operate and work from mechanical personnel lifts (electric or gas powered). Demonstrating safe work habits and proper care of tools and equipment: Small tools and equipment case, Material handling and organizing, Keeps work area clean, Assist in wire pulls, Mounting and strapping, Understand safety requirements. Physical Requirements: Personal weight and tools cannot exceed weight limit of ladders (Class 1-250lbs, Class 2-300lbs). Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull and reach over Lift 51 pounds, 20 times per day. Constantly move about on the feet. Climb ladders of all types. Complete full day assignments involving overhead Must be able to make transition from employee parking area or street into construction work areas and to access all levels of the building, even if the only means of access is by O.S.H.A. approved site construction ladder or stairs still under construction, but acceptable for use. Possess good vision, normal or corrected. Must be capable of securing tools and materials from storage areas to complete assigned tasks. Possess good hearing, normal or Must be able to positively identify different colors of wiring. Must pass background check which includes criminal background check and department of motor vehicle check. Must pass drug screen. Must sign a release to be able to pass background check which will include a criminal background check and department of motor vehicle Applicant must pass a drug screen. Travel up to 100% to unanticipated client sites in the domestic U.S. Traveling to project sites is a normal part of the job for apprentice electricians. Full-time position.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

May work inside or outside while wearing required personal protective equipment at all times; possible exposure to hot and cold temperatures, weather elements, dust, toxic materials, in restricted or confined spaces, and on slippery or uneven surfaces; works on ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, in ditches and excavations; works in and around single and multi-story buildings with all exposures typical of a heavy construction site, including portable sanitary facilities.
