Aether Aerospace, a defense technology platform, is seeking a Cloud Architect to design, implement, and oversee cloud solutions for DoD and national security customers. Location: Dayton, OH or Hanscom AFB, MA

As a Cloud Architect, you will leverage your expertise in cloud computing to design, implement, and oversee innovative cloud solutions that align with business objectives. Working under general direction, you will independently develop strategies and technical solutions to complex challenges, contributing to cloud adoption plans, application design, and system management. Your role will involve leading the development and deployment of cloud infrastructure, ensuring compliance with security standards, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize cloud-based systems. This position offers the opportunity to drive impactful change while providing technical leadership in a rapidly evolving domain.

The proposed salary range for this position is $110,095-$153,603. There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, geographic location, education, and certifications. RESPONSIBILTIES
  • Develop and oversee the organization’s cloud computing strategy, including cloud adoption plans, application architecture, and management
  • Lead cloud implementation projects and system deployment on IaaS and PaaS
  • Work with Cloud Service Providers (e.g. CloudOne, DAF CloudWorks, and SEITaas) to design system architecture
  • Onboard new customers and system tenants with client-first service
  • Generate and translate high-level system requirements into detailed implementation specifications
  • Act as a customer liaison to understand and shape technical requirements for business development initiatives
  • Work with analysts, engineers, and programmers to define project limitations, system capabilities, and interface requirements
  • Optimize cloud performance by monitoring systems, managing updates, and ensuring robust connectivity among remotely located servers
  • Provide assessments of current-state architecture and propose recommendations for future-state architecture
  • Lead consultative engagements with domain architects, sales consultants, business analysts, and technical staff to ensure successful project delivery
  • Utilize a cloud-first mindset to help customers realize the full potential of cloud-based solutions.
  • Ensure 100% of planned hours are worked and recorded
  • Identify and forward to your leadership any opportunities that could lead to growth within your work area
  • Ensure all contractual deliverables are met/exceeded to the customer's satisfaction
  • Completes personal PDP and attend Staff Meeting and Storytime (with camera on)
  • Within your program, build productive and positive professional relationships with clients
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
Key Qualifications

Clearance: Active TS/SCI

Education and Years of Experience: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, with 5-7 years of experience in cloud architecture, or a Master’s degree with 3-5 years of experience.

  • Comprehensive understanding, documenting, and applying technical principles, theories, and concepts in cloud computing.
  • Having earned one of the following certifications; CompTIA Cloud+, CompTIA Security+, GICSP, SSCP, or GSEC
  • Proven ability to independently develop solutions to complex technical problems.
  • Proficiency in infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Design and implement cloud-based solutions by setting up front-end and back-end platforms and developing operational delivery systems
  • Knowledge of cloud-native services, serverless architectures, and microservices.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to document and articulate a case for change to stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices and software security protocols
  • Experience in system integration and ensuring software scalability
  • Experiencing providing technical support to operational strategies aligned within your program and initiatives that optimize processes, enhance productivity, and ensure quality across all program functions
  • Strong ability to analyze system performance, develop implementation requirements, and ensure compliance with verification standards
  • Experience in government and defense-related systems engineering

  • Certifications in one or more of the following:
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
  • Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect
  • Expertise in consultative selling and enabling services in cloud environments.
  • Advanced understanding of cloud security and compliance requirements.
  • Strong communication skills and experience collaborating with technical and business teams.
