Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories is seeking a highly capable E&O Systems Engineer to join our team, focusing on embedded electronics for national security programs. The role covers design through production, with fast-paced development, risk management, and strong collaboration across experts.

The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with embedded hardware and firmware, proficiency in troubleshooting, and a DOE Q-level clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline and five years of directly relevant experience or equivalent combination.
• Hands-on experience troubleshooting and debugging embedded electronic modules and systems across prototype, qualification, production, and operational phases for secure transportation.
• Experience with emergency response environments, such as transportation emergency response or emergency operation centers, including participation in 24x7 response team
• Active DOE Q-level (or equivalent) security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues and manage risks that may impact safeguard and secure transportation mission operations.
• Analyze problems with subject matter experts and develop targeted solutions and corrective actions.
• Support troubleshooting and validation at vehicle maintenance facilities and production sites by diagnosing system malfunctions.
• Document changes, modifications, and updates to systems or processes, and issue special engineering instructions.
• Apply a structured engineering approach to understand electrical modules and system interactions, supporting integration tests.
• Provide technical input to technical reviews to identify potential issues and improve system design.
• Participate in emergency response activities related to safeguard and secure transportation programs, assisting in rapid diagnosis and corrective actions.
• Interface with sponsors, customers, and internal teams to align with mission objectives.
