Job summary

Jackson Lewis P.C. seeks an experienced eDiscovery Attorney in California to guide and advise on eDiscovery and Information Governance. You will manage eDiscovery for complex litigations and investigations, develop workflows for Relativity and other platforms, and support negotiations and training.

This role reports to the Director, eDiscovery Attorney, and collaborates with IT, compliance, and case teams. Qualified candidates have a JD, CA Bar admission, 5+ years of eDiscovery leadership, and

• JD required
• Admission to the CA Bar (or licensed to practice California)
• Minimum 5+ years of experience managing eDiscovery in complex litigations and investigations
• Strong understanding of eDiscovery law and technologies
• Hands-on experience with eDiscovery platforms such as Relativity and Everlaw
• Familiarity with data/document processing in eDiscovery

Responsibilities

• Managing eDiscovery in a portfolio of complex and global litigations & investigations
• Developing workflows for eDiscovery review platforms including Relativity and proprietary vendor platforms and incorporating eDiscovery data analytics tools
• Advising legal, compliance and group investigation stakeholders on eDiscovery issues & strategies
• Providing support to case teams on eDiscovery-related negotiations and motion practice
• Assisting clients with updating their internal eDiscovery workflows
• Serving as a subject matter expert on eDiscovery topics and helping with onboarding and training of customers
• Implementing custom workflows to reduce client costs and speed evidence gathering
• Creating and refining standard documentation (ESI protocols, Protective Orders, review protocols)

Job Summary (basic description)

The ideal candidate is a skilled attorney and a natural communicator who can work closely with teams throughout the firm to guide and advise on eDiscovery and Information Governance issues. As the eDiscovery Attorney at Jackson Lewis reporting directly to the Director, eDiscovery Attorney, you will focus on the following tasks:

• Managing eDiscovery in a portfolio of complex and global litigations & investigations
• Developing workflows for eDiscovery review platforms including Relativity and proprietary vendor platforms and incorporating eDiscovery data analytics tools into those workflows including TAR, predictive coding, and Early Case Assessment. Advising legal, compliance and group investigation stakeholders on eDiscovery issues & strategies that comply with the relevant policies, laws and regulations arising in connection with litigation, internal investigations, and regulatory inquiries
• Providing support to case teams on eDiscovery-related negotiations and motion practice.
• Assisting clients with updating their internal eDiscovery workflows. Working in the framework of eDiscovery processes and current & evolving eDiscovery technologies in conjunction with other disciplines, including Information Governance, Data Protection, Data Security, IT, Compliance
• Identifying and escalating improvements to eDiscovery policies and procedures as necessary
• Serving as a subject matter expert on eDiscovery topics and helping with the on-boarding and training of new and existing customers
• Implementing custom workflows to reduce client costs and enhance speed-to-evidence for clients
• Creating and refining standard documentation, including ESI protocols, Protective Orders, review protocols, training guides and review workflows

Qualifications/Skills Required

• JD required
• Admission to the CA Bar (can be located outside of CA, but must be licensed for the state of California)
• Minimum 5+ years of experience managing eDiscovery in complex litigations and investigations
• Strong understanding of current eDiscovery law and jurisprudence, eDiscovery processes and current & evolving eDiscovery technologies
• Hands-on experience with eDiscovery platforms (e.g., Relativity, Everlaw)
• Familiarity with the procedures for data and document processing in eDiscovery.
• Demonstrated understanding of eDiscovery practices, including the relationship between eDiscovery and related disciplines (eCompliance, Records, Information Governance, IT, Data Privacy/Protection, Data Security)
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously from inception to completion and achieve goals-

For Los Angeles, Silicon Valley and San Francisco, the expected salary range for this position is between $169,000 and $202,650. This position is also eligible for annual bonuses. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.

For Irvine, San Diego, Riverside and Sacramento, the expected salary range for this position is between $162,000 and $194,250. This position is also eligible for annual bonuses. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
