Job summary

Candor is seeking a Dyslexia Specialist to support students with reading difficulties and help them develop essential literacy skills. You will deliver explicit, multisensory dyslexia interventions and collaborate with campus teams to design targeted support plans based on student data and evaluation results.

You’ll monitor progress regularly, adjust instruction as needed, and work with teachers, diagnosticians, and families to ensure effective services in line with TEA guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Education, or related field.
  • Texas Educator Certification required.
  • Dyslexia certification or TEA-approved training preferred; RBD required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Dyslexia Intervention using explicit, systematic, multisensory instruction.
  • Develop Individualized Support Plans based on student data and evaluations.
  • Monitor Student Progress and adjust instruction based on data.
  • Collaborate with general and special education staff, diagnosticians, and families; participate in ARD and Section 504 as appropriate.
  • Ensure compliance with TEA guidelines and district procedures for dyslexia services.
  • Support student growth by building confidence, independence, and literacy skills.

What We’re Looking For:
  • Education:Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Education, or a related field.
  • Certification:Valid Texas Educator Certification required. Dyslexia certification or completion of a TEA-approved Dyslexia training program (per Texas Dyslexia Handbook) preferred. RBD required.
  • Additional Requirements:Knowledge of Texas dyslexia laws and the Texas Dyslexia Handbook, as well as familiarity with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and the ARD process. Experience providing dyslexia intervention and progress monitoring is preferred. CPR certification is a plus.
  • Language Proficiency:Bilingual skills preferred but not required.
Your Role

As a Dyslexia Specialist, you’ll play a critical role in supporting students with reading difficulties and helping them build the skills needed for long-term academic success. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Provide Dyslexia Intervention:Deliver explicit, systematic, and multisensory instruction aligned with the Texas Dyslexia Handbook to support students with dyslexia and related reading difficulties.
  • Develop Individualized Support Plans:Collaborate with campus teams to design and implement targeted intervention plans based on student data, evaluation results, and identified needs.
  • Monitor Student Progress:Collect and analyze data regularly to track student growth, adjust instruction, and ensure interventions are effective.
  • Collaborate with Teams:Work closely with general education teachers, special education staff, diagnosticians, and families to support student success. Participate in ARD meetings and Section 504 processes as appropriate.
  • Ensure Compliance:Maintain accurate documentation and ensure services align with TEA guidelines, district procedures, and state requirements for dyslexia services.
  • Support Student Growth:Provide structured support that addresses students’ academic needs while building confidence, independence, and literacy skills.
