Job summary

VBSD in Van Buren, AR seeks a paraprofessional to support certified teachers in the classroom, lunchroom, hallways, and during other break times. You will assist in preparing curriculum materials, maintaining a safe, clean classroom, and providing dyslexia and other content area interventions one-on-one or in small groups as directed by the principal.

This is a one-year contract for 179 days, prorated based on days worked. Position reports to the Principal/Assistant Principal.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Passing score on Paraprofessional assessment at hire or 60 college hours.
• Participate in required district provided dyslexia tutor training.
• Clean background check required.

Physical Requirements

• Be able to stand/sit for the majority of the school day
• Be able to walk short distances to escort students between classrooms and activities
• Be able to sit, stand, lean, reach, bend, lift and squat to assist students as needed
• Be able to walk on uneven surfaces
• Be able to walk up and down stairs
• Be outside in all weather conditions for assigned duty
