Job summary

The Archdiocese of St. Louis Catholic Education and Formation is seeking substitute teachers to cover classes in the absence of regular teachers. You will follow lesson plans, deliver instruction, and monitor safety and wellbeing across grade levels.

This temporary, on‑call role requires flexible scheduling, strong communication, and the ability to manage classroom behavior. You may work with different subjects and report to the school administrator as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; a Bachelor’s degree in education or related field preferred.
• A teaching certification or substitute teacher permit may be required.
• Prior teaching or classroom experience preferred but not always required.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage classroom behavior effectively and adapt to different settings.

Responsibilities

• Follow lesson plans and deliver instruction to students.
• Maintain a safe, respectful, and productive classroom environment.
• Actively engage students and provide guidance to help them understand the material.
• Monitor progress, administer quizzes or tests if needed, and report results.
• Communicate with school staff and report incidents to appropriate personnel.
