Job summary

Legacy Traditional Schools seeks an energetic Substitute Teacher to provide an engaging educational atmosphere when the regular teacher is absent.

You will follow lesson plans, maintain classroom routines, supervise students, and report on daily activities to staff and parents. Required: Bachelor's degree, state substitute teaching certification, and the ability to pass a criminal history check; teaching experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree is required.
• Substitute teaching certification issued by the state is required.
• Candidate must pass a criminal history background check.

Responsibilities

• Report to the school secretary upon arrival at the school building.
• Review all plans and schedules to be followed during the teaching day.
• Maintain established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which they are assigned.
• Teach the lesson(s) outlined and described in the Substitute Teacher’s Folder as prepared by the absent teacher.
• Consult with the building principal before initiating any teaching or other procedures not specified in the Substitute Teacher’s Folder.
• Oversee pupil behavior in class and during lunch and recess periods.
• Report in writing on the day’s activities at the conclusion of each teaching day.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and other professionals on a regular basis.
• Collaborate with peers to enhance the instructional environment.
• Model professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, peers, and community.
• Ensure student growth and achievement is appropriate for age group, subject area, and/or program classification.
• Encourage students to uphold values and model mature behavior in the classroom and campus.
