Job summary

BASIS Baton Rouge Mid City is seeking qualified candidates to join our Substitute Teacher Pool, providing classroom coverage on an as-needed basis. Substitutes support learning by following teacher lesson plans, maintaining routines, and creating a positive learning environment across subjects and grade levels.

Requirements include a bachelor’s degree in a subject area (or 24+ credits) and proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in subject matter (or 24+ credit hours in applicable subject matter with other degree)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Master’s degree in subject matter or education preferred.
• 2+ years teaching/education experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate provided lesson plans
• Provide subject instruction on a higher level than grade-standard in an interactive learning environment
• Manage student behavior to foster academic achievement and respect
• Support non-instructional functions such as Early Bird, Late Bird, lunch and study hall
• Arrive on time and remain available for full substitute assignments
• Supervise individual students or groups of students
