Job summary

CBS News and Stations in Chicago is seeking a dynamic, forward-thinking Anchor/Reporter (Sports) to lead our sports coverage across linear, streaming, and digital platforms.

You will anchor in-studio, report live from events, write concise scripts, and develop enterprise, character-driven stories that engage Chicago's passionate sports community. This SAG/AFTRA role requires top writing and a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Sports Anchor/Reporter in a major market (Top 10 preferred).
• Strong on-air presence for linear and digital platforms.
• Excellent writing skills for scripts and copy.
• Deep knowledge of Chicago sports and national leagues.

Responsibilities

• Anchor & Host: Lead energetic, authoritative sports segments on linear broadcasts; host high-profile station sports specials and digital/streaming original programming.
• Multi-Platform Content Generation: Actively write, produce, and adapt sports content for linear TV, CBS News Chicago Streaming, CBSChicago.com, and social platforms (Instagram, X, TikTok, YouTube).
• Remote & Field Reporting: Anchor and report live from marquee sporting events and breaking sports news.
• Modern Storytelling & Enterprise: Develop original, character-driven stories beyond game recaps; contribute to daily editorial meetings.
• Digital & Social Strategy: Execute a proactive social media strategy to engage Chicago sports fans in real time.
• Linear Writing & Segment Scripting: Write sharp, conversational copy and craft segments for high-impact broadcasts.
• Journalistic Integrity: Maintain strict standards, accuracy, and editorial judgment in a fast-paced multi-platform newsroom.
