Job summary

Nexstar Media Group, Inc. in Abilene seeks a Sports Reporter/Anchor to produce and anchor sports reports across platforms, delivering clear, engaging content for our viewers. You will write and deliver stories, coordinate programming, and respond to breaking events.

You will shoot and edit video, mentor teammates, interact with audiences on social media, and contribute to comprehensive sports coverage while maintaining high journalistic standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Comprehensive knowledge of sports and sports-related activities.
• Fluency in English.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• Minimum five years’ experience in sports reporting or anchoring.
• Superior on-air presence.
• Experience guiding, directing and motivating others.
• Proficiency with office equipment and standard software.
• Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Produces and presents sports reports for all platforms.
• Ensures content meets standards for journalistic integrity and production quality.
• Writes and delivers sports stories clearly and concisely.
• Assists in writing, copy editing, researching and coordinating sports programming.
• Responds to breaking sports events and urgent newsroom situations.
• Works with sports team to develop comprehensive coverage.
• Participates in promotional activities and public appearances.
• Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.
• Shoots video for sports reports and sets up shots.
• Maintains video equipment and edits clips for broadcasts and eMedia.
• Writes stories for website and eMedia platforms and engages viewers on social media.
