Qualifications

• Minimum education requirement is a high school diploma; college credit or degree preferred.
• Interpersonal skills to interact effectively and politely with students and staff.
• Previous experience working with children is preferred.
• Ability to care for, supervise, and nurture children; follow directions and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Assists special education students with academics in regular education classroom.
• Assists students in categorical classrooms.
• Assists students in physical education, music, art, at lunch and recess as needed.
• Takes part in IEPCs and planning meetings as requested.
• Assists with small and large group non-direct instruction.
• Assists with mobility and utilization of assistive devices as needed.
• Monitors behavior of students on behavior plans and others under supervision.
• Provides witness for medication administration if requested.
• Accompanies students on field trips; attends training and in-services.
