Job summary

Georgetown Public Schools is seeking a Substitute School Nurse for the 2026/2027 school year to support Georgetown Middle/High School and Penn Brook Elementary School.

Starting immediately, the Substitute Nurse will provide direct and indirect care, dispense medication, perform first aid, and communicate health information to parents and school staff, with orientation and ongoing support from full‑time nurses.

Qualifications

• Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
• MA Registered Nurse Licensing required.
• CPR certification required.
• DESE license preferred (or in progress).
• At least 1 year of relevant experience preferred (public health, school health or pediatric nursing).
• CORI and SAFIS background checks per 603 CMR 51.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and indirect care to students in accordance with policies and physician orders.
• Fulfills nurse responsibilities during the building nurse's absence.
• Provide routine medical care and dispense medication.
• Provide first aid treatment to students for injuries.
• Interpret health status of students to parents and school personnel.
• Notify parents of illness and accidents and complete forms.
• Maintain daily electronic log of students seen in health room (SNAP EMR).
