Qualifications

• Certified or registered respiratory therapist required and active.
• BLS/CPR for Healthcare Providers, PALS, NRP, and ACLS/ALS certification must be obtained within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Administers aerosolized drugs prescribed by physicians.
• Monitors patients for adverse reactions and responds appropriately, including stopping therapy and notifying clinicians.
• Documents in computer systems and patient charts.
• Performs oxygen rounds and emergency rounds, ensuring equipment function.
• Responds to Code Blue and Rapid Response; provides airway management and CPR.
• Sets up and adjusts mechanical ventilation; frequent checks of patient and equipment.
• Performs IPPB, humidity, aerosol therapy, postural drainage, percussion and incentive spirometry.
• Educates patients, families, physicians and community members about procedures and home care.
• Maintains Blood Gas Laboratory CLIA standards and quality control.
