Job summary

Bethlehem Elementary School in Taylorsville, NC seeks an NC Pre-K Teacher Assistant to support the Lead Teacher with instructional planning, classroom activities and student care.

The role requires an Associate degree in early childhood or a high school diploma with EDU 119, plus First Aid/CPR, Foundations training and a valid NC driver's license; immediate start. Family engagement and ECERS-aligned practices are important.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in early childhood or high school diploma/GED
• Must have completed EDU 119 or enroll and complete within 6 months
• First Aid and CPR certification required or must be obtained and kept current
• Complete training on the Foundations, the NC early learning standards for preschoolers
• Applicant must hold a valid NC state driver’s license

Responsibilities

• Arranging the physical environment to meet physical, social, and emotional needs of each child.
• Select developmentally appropriate materials for at least 7 interest centers meeting ECERS guidelines.
• Follow a balanced daily classroom schedule that meets ECERS and curriculum guidelines.
• Create a positive social and emotional climate.
• Maintain a clean and healthy classroom.
• Lead teacher and assistant plan together; communicate daily activities.
• Lead learning experiences to meet individual and group needs.
• Coordinate with program staff and external professionals for smooth transitions.
• Assist with Dial 4/Brigance screenings and anecdotal records.
• Work with teachers to provide optimal learning environment and resources.

Education

Associate degree in early childhood

High school diploma or GED

EDU 119 course (completion or enrollment within 6 months)

First Aid and CPR certification

Foundations and NC Early Learning Standards for preschoolers training
