Job summary

Katy ISD is seeking a licensed teacher with a valid Texas teaching certificate to join our campus team. You will develop lessons, implement the district curriculum, and document preparation using Eduphoria/Forethought.

You will tailor instruction for diverse learning styles, collaborate with SPED staff, and participate in campus and district professional development. This role carries an exempt pay status and offers leadership opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
• Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned
• Knowledge of subjects assigned
• ESL certification required for ELA/Reading and self-contained SPED or ability to obtain within 2 years
• General knowledge of design and delivery issues related to alignment for best results in student achievement
• Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Student teaching or approved internship
• Physically able to monitor student discipline and progress and meet other student needs
• Physically able to move about the room to perform formative assessments and adequately facilitate instruction

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with district curriculum
• Prepare lessons with accommodations for different learning styles
• Present subject matter per TEA guidelines and policies
• Plan and use activities and materials for individual needs
• Assess student learning styles and plan accordingly
• Cooperate with special education teachers for IEP-directed curricula
• Plan and supervise teacher aides and volunteers
• Utilize technology to enhance teaching and learning
• Support students in improving study methods
• Assess achievement through formal and informal testing and adjust plans
• Lead or sponsor extracurricular activities as assigned
• Model professional behavior and communication
• Maintain classroom environment conducive to learning
• Manage student behavior according to policies and IEPs
• Ensure safety of students and materials
• Assist in selecting instructional materials
• Maintain open communication with parents and staff
• Participate in faculty and committee work
• Align district goals with community needs
• Promote parent involvement in school activities
