Job summary

West Virginia K-12 Jobs is recruiting for an Elementary Teaching/Elementary Classroom Teacher in Summers County. The role requires a valid WV teaching certificate with PE/Health endorsement (PK-AD) and completion of background and drug screenings.

The teacher will plan standards-based instruction, maintain high expectations for student achievement, and collaborate with special education staff to support diverse learners. This position follows the state salary schedule and 200-day employment term.

Qualifications

• Must hold West Virginia teaching certificate with appropriate endorsement in PE/Health, PK-AD.
• Must pass a criminal background check per Summers County policy.
• Must pass a drug test per Summers County policy.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement Summers County Schools' standards-based curriculum aligned to state standards.
• Set high standards for academic achievement and behavior in the classroom.
• Implement adopted and supplemental programs in alignment with state standards.
• Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations, and Board policy.
• Strive to implement school and district education goals through instruction and actions.
• Be accountable for individual student achievement and progress.
• Incorporate appropriate technology skills into lessons.
• Plan and implement accommodations and modifications per IEP/504/SAT or other accommodations.
• Collaborate with special education staff for inclusive planning.
• Lead or assist designated co-curricular activities and field trips as assigned.
• Use diverse teaching methods to reach all learners and needs.
• Maintain confidentiality and accurate records per law.
• Show strong communication with students, parents, and peers.
• Engage in professional growth and scheduled meetings.
