Job summary

School of Rock Farmingdale/School of Rock Sayville in New York is seeking a Part-time Music Teacher to deliver private and group lessons, focusing on fundamentals and creative growth for students aged 4 to 99.

You will create thoughtful lesson plans, maintain excellent customer service, report progress to parents, and stay active in the school community; teaching experience is required, with multi-instrumentalism a plus.

Qualifications

• 1+ teaching experience; plus 2+ years performing music professionally.
• Knowledge of music theory and curriculum design.
• Excellent ability to deal with a wide range of customers and people.
• Must love kids and maintain a positive attitude.
• Strong organizational skills and reliable scheduling.
• Enthusiastic, flexible, patient and positive demeanor.
• Comfortable singing and speaking in front of groups.
• Energetic and friendly; multi-instrumentalist is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maximize quality of music instruction including private and group lessons for ages 4–99.
• Ensure students learn fundamentals of music, not just songs.
• Create and document thoughtful lesson plans.
• Provide excellent customer service and communicate with parents.
• Interact with parents and students regularly in person at school.
• Pitch in during canceled lessons and assist in rehearsals or basic maintenance.
