Job summary

GOODWILL CENTRAL COAST in Salinas, CA is seeking a Retail Outlet Associate to assist the Outlet Supervisor and oversee operations in their absence. This full-time role involves handling everyday store tasks, cashier duties, and ensuring customer service standards are met.

You will stock merchandise, greet customers, and help with disposal of unsold items, while staying compliant with safety and housekeeping guidelines.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience: Minimum six months retail sales experience required; “as-is” retail experience preferred.
• License/Certification: Forklift certification within 90 days of hire/placement.
• Knowledge: Basic math; familiarity with electronic cash registers; familiarity with company policies and Goodwill Central Coast’s mission.

Responsibilities

• Oversee basic Outlet operations in the absence of the Outlet Supervisor (including making daily bank deposits).
• Provide guidance to staff on sales questions or issues; inform Outlet Supervisor or designee of personnel-related problems.
• Organize the store by stocking and placing merchandise.
• Maintain a neat, clean, and safe working and shopping environment by following good housekeeping practices.
• Assist customers: help them find merchandise; carry paid merchandise to their vehicles; report problems to Outlet Supervisor.
• Remove/sort unsold merchandise for recycling/disposal.
• Perform opening and closing procedures.
• Perform cashier duties as requested.
• Greet customers entering the outlet and thank them as they leave.
