Strong writing and social media savvy are essential to engage viewers and expand our digital reach. We expect flexibility in hours, including holidays, with knowledge of the Detroit market as a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in journalism, broadcast journalism or a related field is preferred.
• Candidate must demonstrate strong writing skills and knowledge of current events.
• Ideal candidate demonstrates vast knowledge of social media trends and best practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop original story ideas, establish local contacts, and report complex topics—ranging from hard news to entertainment—with fairness, clarity, and composure under breaking news pressure.
• Communicate comfortably with a diverse audience and leverage social media platforms to interact with viewers and broaden the station's digital reach.
• Track ongoing stories to spot new, meaningful developments and contextualize key market issues.
• Pitch story ideas, participate in daily editorial meetings, and contribute to station-wide story selection.
• Research, write, and report stories tailored for linear broadcast, streaming and digital channels.
• Represent the station professionally to foster trust and build relationships within the community.
