Job summary

TEGNA's WZZM-TV Grand Rapids is seeking a skilled Photojournalist to create compelling content for TV, social media and streaming. The candidate can work solo or with a team, tell strong stories under tight deadlines, and operate live-gathering tools on air.

Requirements include a journalism-related degree or equivalent experience, 1–3 years in a newsroom, and proficiency in editing with EDIUS or similar systems. A valid driver's license is required for location shoots.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in journalism, communications or related field preferred or equivalent years of experience
• 1-3 years of experience preferred in a newsroom environment
• Experience in photojournalism, editing, and content management systems
• Must be flexible with schedule, reliable and dependable
• Proven ability to generate creative, engaging content-driven live shots
• Demonstrated news judgment, writing skills, photography experience, and non-linear editing skills
• Knowledge of EDIUS or other non-linear base editing systems

Responsibilities

• Passion for capturing video and audio elements that produce compelling stories under daily deadlines
• Operate ENG truck or IP live unit when assigned
• Be assigned to work in a team or solo for daily news assignments
• Attend editorial meetings, participate in discussions and propose story ideas
• Use graphics and viewer-driven media to enhance stories
