The role requires self-sufficiency, proactive sourcing, and the ability to shoot, write, edit, and report on scene for multiple platforms.

The ideal candidate will generate enterprise stories, build sources, and deliver clear, engaging content for broadcast and digital audiences, including social media and streaming platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• Minimum two years’ experience in news reporting.
• Engaging on-air presence.
• Proactive in responding to breaking news across the Raleigh-Durham market.
• Ability to gather urgent information on-scene from witnesses and law enforcement.
• Ability to shoot, write and edit using various technology.
• Produce content for all platforms including digital, social media, and streaming.
• Ensure that all content meets journalistic integrity and production quality.
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
• Flexibility to work any shift.

Responsibilities

• Reports news stories for broadcast with background and details.
• Arranges interviews with sources.
• Reviews copy and corrects errors per editorial guidelines.
• Reviews notes to isolate pertinent facts.
• Determines story emphasis, length and format; organizes material.
• Researches background information for accuracy.
• Gathers information via research, interviews or events.
• Pitches stories to managers and producers.
• Discusses issues with producers to set priorities.
• Checks reference materials for relevant facts.
• Revises work to meet editorial approval or time requirements.
• Shoots and edits news events and reports.
• Produces and presents reports for all platforms.
• Ensures content meets company standards.
• Writes stories for web and other eMedia platforms.
• Interacts with viewers on social media.
• Performs special projects and other duties.
