Job summary

Jefferson County Schools is seeking a Special Education Teacher to provide instruction and learning activities aligned with WV Content Standards for appropriate content and grade levels. The teacher will develop and implement Individual Education Programs (IEPs) and administer assessments to monitor progress.

The role requires a valid teaching certificate in Special Education, ability to work with families and staff, and commitment to professional responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Valid teaching certificate license to teach Special Education.
• Criminal background check as per WV code.
• Ability to meet WV Code §18A-3-2a qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement curriculum based on WV Content Standards and Objectives.
• Develop and implement IEPs in accordance with Policy 2419.
• Implement adopted and supplemental academic programs and 21st century technology skills.
• Monitor student progress toward IEP goals and instructional objectives.
• Possibly plan and conduct designated co-curricular activities and field trips.
• Administer approved formative assessments.
• Plan and implement tiered instruction for reading and Math where applicable.
• Foster a climate conducive to learning and maintain professional responsibilities.
